In December last year, Christopher Nolan's classic film 'Interstellar' was re-released worldwide to mark its 10th anniversary. However, India was not on the list of the release due to Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa 2' taking up all screens in the country, especially the IMAX screen. While the news came as a disappointment to fans of the sci-fi film, there is some happy news coming our way. Interstellar India re-release Warner Bros India has announced the re-release date for Interstellar on Indian screens. The film will be hitting theatres including IMAX screens from February 7. "The stars are aligning again! Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar returns to cinemas in India and also in IMAX on February 7. Relive the journey beyond time and space," wrote Warner Bros India on their official Twitter handle. About Interstellar 'Interstellar', which originally premiered on November 5, 2014, grossed around $730 million globally, further earning five Academy Award nominations, and winning Best Visual Effects. The film's narrative revolves around a team of pioneers who undertake the most important mission in human history—to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars. Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey stars as the ex-pilot turned farmer who is forced to leave his family and a foundering Earth behind to lead an expedition traveling beyond this galaxy. Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, John Lithgow, Michael Caine, Timothée Chalamet, Ellen Burstyn, Bill Irwin, Wes Bentley, David Oyelowo, and Casey Affleck play key roles in the film. Upon its re-release in the US last month, Interstellar became the ninth highest-grossing IMAX release of all time, following Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It earned $4.5 million across 166 screens in the US and Canada. Talking about the success of the re-release of Interstellar after 10 years, Christopher Nolan told the Associated Press, "I was just so gratified by the response. It’s really thrilling when people respond to your work at any point. But 10 years later, to have new audiences coming and experiencing it in the way that we’d originally intended it on the big IMAX screens and, in particular, on those IMAX film prints? It’s really rewarding to see that it continues to have a life.”

10 January,2025 01:01 PM IST | Los Angeles | IANSActors Emma Thompson, Anna Friel and Christopher Eccleston will be next seen together in the film 'Hear Me Roar' which narrates a true story of a transgender woman who took on the British government in a legal battle over her marriage, reported Deadline. The two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson will play the role of a judge Elizabeth Butler-Sloss in the film. As per Deadline, Friel has been cast as Bayston, Rebecca Root is Bellinger and Eccleston is her husband. It also stars Bridgerton fame Julian Ovenden. The film is directed by Amy Coop. As per Deadline, Elizabeth Bellinger became one of the few transgender people in Britain to get married in the 1980s. She kept this ceremony secret from almost everyone until 2000 when she launched a campaign to have her marriage to Michael Bellinger legally recognized and the case went to the courts. The drama started with her meeting with barrister Ashley Bayston, who co-wrote the feature with lead writer Lisa McMullin. The feature narrates the complex legal obstacle in their marriage which they undertook over the next three years. After reading the script, Thompson couldn't control her tears and got overwhelmed with the characters. Thompson said: "I'm weeping like a baby, it's so moving and powerful and funny. It's a great story and script with wonderful characters - I just loved it and it moved me deeply. I think it's both fascinating and profoundly meaningful and essential," as quoted by Deadline. Director Coop added: "It's a privilege to be working with such a great team to tell this incredible story, an overlooked part of modern British History that represented a seismic shift for LGBTQ+ people." The film is produced by Darren Stuart and David Nichols. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. 10 January,2025 10:23 AM IST | Washington | ANIU/A: ADir: Robert EggersCast: Bill Skarsgard, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose DeppRating: 3/5 Nosh farmayein! First off, I’m not a horror fan. Find ’em funny, actually. You’ve gotta be a believer, to begin with, to truly appreciate the sorta jump-scares that fake ghosts onscreen, if there are any other kind, inevitably wrap you around with. That said, every genre has its crossover films. Those are genre movies, laden with enough art/craft, to leap beyond the basic tropes. You needn’t be a sci-fi nut to get into Blade Runner, for instance. As with Nosferatu, which is the world’s most aesthetic movie in the visually, thematically dark, supernatural/vampire scene. I came for the sound at the Dolby preview theatre in Mumbai; stayed for the strikingly gothic production design, and the play of lights and shadows. None of which totally eclipse the film’s primary purpose/performances, at any point. Is the director Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse, The Witch), reputably the cat in this horror space, the reason to enter the theatre? Well, reasons are often many, and varied, depending on the audience, no? What if I told you, one of them, for a cinephile, is to watch this movie, chiefly for film appreciation, as cinema history! And that’s to do with the OG, FW Marnau’s Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922), a German silent film, easily available on YouTube, that follows the same story, with placards for dialogues, and a grand musical score that totally deserves a concert inside a cinema! The new Nosferatu, in its content, if not the form, is essentially a remake of the 103-year-old one. That, in turn, was, if I’m not mistaken, the first horror feature, ever! This is different from the great Werner Herzog’s Nosferatu, the Vampyre (1979), which was more of a homage to the original German expressionist work. What’s at the centre of it all? Well, quite simply, Bram Stoker’s 1897 classic novel, Dracula. They didn’t call it that, back in the day, because the producers, Prana Films, didn’t have the book rights. While it didn’t look it, that 1922 pic was low-budget. Writer-director Eggers sticks to the original names/plot in his big-ticket enterprise, century-plus hence, still. And so, there is Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgard), in place of Count Dracula. More powerful than evil itself, he preys on the wife (Lily-Rose Depp) of a real-estate agent (Nicholas Hoult), in 1839. What follows is mayhem as the real-estate agent heads off to Transylvania, to connect with Count Orlok, who wants a mansion opposite his. The agent’s boss sends him over. When that boss tells him that the client—who we don’t know is the vampire, yet—wishes him “to be present in the flesh”, that phrase takes on a more literal meaning, obviously! You could study everything that happens in this film, as it did in 1922, for the template of an entire genre that it somewhat heralded, I guess. There are the naysayer characters, who naturally consider the supernatural stuff happening around them as such unscientific mumbo-jumbo that “Newton would curl back into his womb.” Indeed, the stuff is real, until everybody realises it, before it’s too late to save the day! Place this Dracula in a Ramsay flick. It feels corny, only because the world-building is perhaps deliberately substandard. Elevate it with craft, Eggers’s in this case, and the suspension of disbelief is normal, while you marvel equally at the design of a period film for its own worth. You stop to question how the wife in the movie speaks about her dreaming of an incident, where people are dying, one by one—and she can’t stand the stench. She can smell in her dreams too? Well, she makes love to a vampire, bro; or fears it anyway! What else do non-horror fans do in a classic horror-noir? Intellectualise it, what else; look out for sub-text, I guess. Wherein the killing vampire Count Orlok is probably proxy for plague, occurring simultaneously? In about the same way that perhaps Count Dracula was a stand-in for Jack the Ripper in the Bram Stoker novel? Or read up on the fascination for vampires in teenaged, female fantasy-fiction, that unconsciously alludes to puberty, menstruation, etc, and later with choking and other sexual foreplay? Naah! That’s just killing all the fun. Stick to the films. See how Werner Herzog, who directly called his villain, Dracula, in his semi-realist Nosferatu (1979), wholly humanised the vampire instead. Relatively soft, Dracula, mourns the lack of daylight, love, and death, in his life. Count Orlok is more of a shadowy figure, lacking in depth instead, in both Eggers’s and Marnau’s Nosferatu. But you mostly feel for the others around the dark Lord, crumbling in despair. And you’re quite taken in by some sort of mysticism, in small measures, that appears closer to magical realism, in the context of movies. I guess, by now, you know what I’ve done. Watched this film, and done a double-bill of the two classics before it (online). It’s the same script, yes. But the story, sometimes, I suspect, is simply incidental to the film experience. Nosferatu is one of them. Sure, you could start with the latest!
10 January,2025 08:07 AM IST | Mumbai | Mayank ShekharThe character Walter White's house portrayed in the popular TV show Breaking Bad is up for sale in the market. The owners of the house have priced it at almost 10 times the average price of houses in the neighbourhood. The house is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. About the Breaking Bad house According to reports, the house has been put on sale at a whopping price of USD 4 million (Rs 34 crore approx). The said house has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a backyard pool, which also featured in crucial scenes of the long-running show. According to real estate company Zillow, the average price of houses in the neighbourhood is USD 421,000. The house is owned by Joanne Quintana. She reportedly said that the house's popularity among tourists came at a cost to the family's quality of life. "This was our family home from 1973, almost 52 years,” she told local TV station KOB4. “So we’re going to walk away with just our memories. It’s time to move on. We’re done. There’s no reason to fight any more.” Recalling the time the 'Breaking Bad' crew requested to use the house for the acclaimed series in 2006, Quintana said, "They introduced themselves and handed [my mother] a card and said, "We would like to use your house for a pilot". Reportedly, the crew only used the inside of the home for gear and prep-not for scenes, the KOB4 reported. Most of the outside areas of the home were shown in the five season series. The house owner said that they would have tourists come knocking on the door frequently causing disturbance. Quintana said that an average of 300 cars come past the house each day. After an incident where one visitor left a package addressed to Walter White on their doorstep, Quintana and her siblings decided to erect more security. “My brothers said, that’s it, we’re done, fence is going up,” Quintana told KOB4. “That’s too close for comfort.” Family recalls iconic pizza scene In 2015, Quintana’s late mother, Fran Padilla, said that they had fans who attempted to recreate the scene from Breaking Bad where White throws a pizza on the roof. “We’ve had pizzas on our roof. We’ve had pizzas on our driveway; pizzas until we’re sick of looking at pizzas,” Padilla told NPR. The family was there for the iconic pizza scene. Joanne says they had boxes of pizzas lining her sidewalk in case Bryan Cranston didn't get it on the first take, but he nailed it on try one. For the pivotal scene when Skyler walks into the family's pool, the family snapped a photo as they filled the pool with 90-degree water to make the actress comfortable. Fran always had cookies for the crew. "What was funny was Bryan Cranston could not eat not one cookie. Because he had cancer in the show, he was losing weight. So he would pass, but everybody, all the directors, all the writers, would eat the cookies. The last day of shooting, he takes a picture holding my mom's biscotti because he finally got to eat her cookies," said Quintana. "Aaron Paul had to grunt and get angry to get into his character of Jesse. That was awesome. And the magic of Hollywood, nobody will ever get to experience what we did."
09 January,2025 09:52 PM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentHollywood star Jessica Alba and her producer husband Cash Warren have reportedly split after 16 years of marriage. According to tmz.com, the two are nearing a divorce, reports people.com. Alba, and Warren, first met in Vancouver in 2004 on the set of the superhero flick Fantastic Four. The pair celebrated son Hayes’ 7th birthday earlier in January. In a cryptic message on New Year’s Eve, Alba wrote that her 2024 was “filled with connection, growth, adventures, laughter, peace, sisterhood, transformation, rebirth, joy and so much love.” In September 2021,she spoke about building her business empire, parenting and her marriage with Warren. She said at the time that they both would share their individual needs to prioritise their relationship. "At different times, there were different things that we needed. Around the time I had the kids, it was like, 'I need (date night) once a week.' And he's been like, 'I need you to be present on the weekends and not work,' " she said, explaining they'd often "over-communicate what's happening before it gets to the point of no return." She added: "I don't think we have a secret at all. We just have to check each other." In July 2021, Alba spoke about juggling parenting responsibilities and her marriage in a conversation on Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt's Instagram series. "I think that he probably gets the short end of the stick. And it's not even him, I would say it's us," she said at the time. "When I'm seeing him and spending time with him and we're really enjoying each other, it's an 'us' thing and it feeds me as well. It's hard. It's impossible." "It's all rosy for two and a half years. But then after that you become roommates. You're just going through the motions. You have the responsibilities; it's a lot of, like, checking the boxes, right?" said the actress She said they used to "at least" do weekly date nights, "but then that stops because of whatever." The actress shared: "We're just not consistent. But being able to communicate when you're unhappy and nipping it right away instead of letting it sort of fester, and then you have animosity and then it explodes — which we've gone through that one! We have, obviously, the friendship, the comfort of 'You're not going anywhere,' so sometimes you don't treat those people the best. You don't consider their feelings in the way that you would consider other people's feelings," she said. "That is something I think is a constant one to work on." Alba added, "It's a life journey, and if you're both every day deciding to do it, it's gonna work out, regardless of the drama, regardless of anything that happens."

09 January,2025 09:34 AM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentThe legal team of actor and director Justin Baldoni has suggested they will highlight what they describe as a 'pattern of bullying' by actress Blake Lively in their countersuit after she accused Baldoni's team of launching 'attacks' following the lawsuit. The dispute between Blake and Justin became the talk of town after she filed a complaint against her 'It Ends with Us' co-star and director alleging sexual harassment and a retaliatory smear campaign, as per The Hollywood Reporter. In the latest barb of allegations, Bryan Freedman, Justin Baldoni's attorney -- comment confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, accused the actress of sending 'grossly edited documents' to the New York Times before filing her complaint. "It is painfully ironic that Blake Lively is accusing Justin Baldoni of weaponizing the media when her own team orchestrated this vicious attack by sending the New York Times grossly edited documents prior to even filing the complaint, we are releasing all of the evidence which will show a pattern of bullying and threats to take over the movie. None of this will come as a surprise because consistent with her past behavior Blake Lively used other people to communicate those threats and bully her way to get whatever she wanted. We have all the receipts and more." Earlier, Blake Lively accused the Baldoni team of using the 'blame the victim' tactic to turn the situation in their favour while speaking to the People magazine. Lively's lawyer said, "This is not a 'feud' arising from 'creative differences' or a 'he said/she said' situation,'" read the statement from Lively's lawyers. "As alleged in Ms. Lively's complaint, and as we will prove in litigation, Wayfarer [Studios] and its associates engaged in unlawful, retaliatory astroturfing against Ms. Lively for simply trying to protect herself and others on a film set. And their response to the lawsuit has been to launch more attacks against Ms. Lively since her filing." The lawyer's statement continues "A classic tactic to distract from allegations of this type of misconduct is to 'blame the victim' by suggesting that they invited the conduct, brought it on themselves, misunderstood the intentions, or even lied." Meanwhile, Baldoni's legal team has asserted that Lively's accusations were false and part of a tactic to rebuild her image, suggesting that her publicist, Leslie Sloane, orchestrated a smear campaign against Baldoni. Justin Baldoni's legal team is yet to file a countersuit against Blake Lively for her complaint. Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni worked together in the film 'It Ends With Us'.
