Rosario Dawson to lead pilot of USA Network's Briarpatch

The story follows Dill who returns to her corrupt Texas hometown after her homicide-detective sister is killed by a car bomb. Allegra's search for the murderer turns into a dangerous excavation of her own past

Actor Rosario Dawson will topline the pilot of USA Network drama "Briarpatch". The 39-year-old actor will play Allegra "Pick" Dill, a tenacious and highly-skilled investigator working in Washington, DC for a young, ambitious Senator, Variety reported.

The story follows Dill who returns to her corrupt Texas hometown after her homicide-detective sister is killed by a car bomb. Allegra's search for the murderer turns into a dangerous excavation of her own past.

The pilot is based on the Ross Thomas novel of the same name with Andy Greenwald adapting for television. Greenwald will also executive the pilot alongside Sam Esmail. It will be produced by Dawson, Universal Cable Productions and Paramount Television.
