Avika Gor became a household name after she played the roles of Anandi in ‘Balika Vadhu’ and Roli in ‘Sasural Simar Ka’. Later on, she went onto do other serials and also regional films like Care of Footpath 2, Uyyala Jampala, Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada and many others. Mid-Day Online caught up with her for an exclusive interview on the occasion of Diwali 2022 in order to know about her Diwali plans amongst other things.

Hey Avika! What are your Diwali plans?
I will be in Hyderabad with my family and friends. I will go for shopping, eat lots of sweets and definitely dance a lot to burn all those extra calories.

Do you believe in gifting or getting gifts during Diwali?
Blessings are enough. I would like the idea of sitting together and having meals or praying together.

Do you burst firecrackers during the festival or do you believe in sound and smoke pollution free Diwali?
I don’t. I have a pet and I hate to see what he goes through. I really want people to realise that old people and babies and nature - everyone silently suffers when we do this. I hope to see people being more careful.

What does Diwali mean to you?
Celebration of life. It is the time of the year when we invite God at home. We also celebrate our new year so I wish a healthy happy and a safe saal mubarak to everyone.

What new / exciting stuff have you planned for Diwali this year?
Making rangoli is my favourite part. I plan to make a new rangoli everyday and hope to learn some healthy desserts recipes.
