Popular television actress Maninee De, who is known for her role as Pari Kapadia from 'Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin' and Zehreeli in the show 'Shaka Laka Boom Boom' recounted the horrific ordeal she went through as a child. Maninee revealed that a close relative sexually abused her at the tender of 7. In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, she shared, "I went through abuse as a kid. There was a bit of a dark phase in my life. I was fighting with my demons.”

Maninee said that many years later she shared it with her parents but despite knowing they never took any action. She further shared that karma is real and her abuser was punished eventually.

"Strangely, he called to apologise to me five to six years ago. And he was like, 'I am really sorry'. I was numb absolutely. And the only thing I said was what's done is done. I just pray to the lord... He is in a pretty bad physical condition, completely paralysed. So, there is karma in this world," she said.

Maninee revealed that she became a therapist to help others who have endured pain and are seeking help to deal with traumatic incidences.

She said, "It was really tough. I am not going to deny. And I am not going to make it lighter by saying nahi, nahi. It is like a wound. Of course, I have done a lot of shadow work. I have been through an extensive healing process. That one wound takes a long time to heal. And that is the reason I became a therapist - so that what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else, and if unfortunately it does, I should be there to heal that person."

Maninee also revealed how she got over it by doing everyday activities which made her mature for her age. "I kind of transmuted, if I may say so in English. I started writing by reading books. I used to write poems. I used to go play. I used to have conversations with myself. I think it was my evolving process. It was difficult but I became mature before time," she shared.

Maninee De is currently leading a busy professional life as she is seen in two shows- ‘Udaariyaan’ and ‘Dalchini’. She was married to television actor was married to actor Mihir Mishra, but the two have separated.
