Method has opened its third gallery in Juhu in Mumbai and marks it with a solo exhibition by Anilakumar Govindappa.

Since its inception in 2019, Method has been dedicated to providing a platform for contemporary and post-urban art, and the new Juhu location intends to further expand its vision by fostering creative development within the community. The Juhu gallery is the largest of Method's locations, spanning an expansive 1800 sq ft. With ample natural light and 12 ft high walls, the space provides an ideal setting for exhibitions and creative interactions.

In addition to presenting monthly-changing exhibitions, Method Juhu will emphasise community engagement through regular workshops, artist discussions, and performances. The gallery aims to enrich the neighborhood by offering opportunities for creative exploration and fostering a sense of togetherness. Furthermore, Method Juhu will feature a café in collaboration with Subko, providing a relaxing environment where visitors can indulge in specialty coffee and delectable treats from Subko bakehouse.

Sahil Arora, founder and curator of Method, expressed his excitement about the new outlet, saying, "We're thrilled to bring art to Juhu and create a space where people can immerse themselves in art, connect with fellow enthusiasts, and experience the transformative power of creativity. Method Juhu invites everyone to explore our exhibitions, discover unique art objects, participate in workshops, or simply enjoy a cup of coffee at the café by Subko."

The gallery's inaugural show, entitled "A Reverie of a Memory," will feature the work of renowned artist Anilakumar Govindappa. Known for his ability to capture ordinary moments and infuse them with extraordinary depth, Govindappa's solo exhibition will take viewers on a journey through his memories of various cities. Known for capturing small moments in ordinary life and expanding them into the extraordinary, in 'A Reverie of a Memory', Anilakumar Govindappa relives the moments of his distant and not so distant past spread across cities. Though not exclusively aligned with constructivism, through the colorful lens of his wild imagination, he tells an open-ended story, leaving much to the perception of the viewer. Diving into universal topics of home, love, and attachment, Govindappa’s practice is one of observations, including in the landscape of life, acknowledgement of the political. Take what you will from each depiction and let it stir you to recollect the overlooked pleasantness of a moment weighted in the world.

Method Juhu officially opened its doors to the public on July 17, 2023, and the exhibition 'A Reverie of a Memory' by Anilakumar Govindappa will run until August 21.
