Do take a meal here

Take 5, a pub cum restaurant located in Indiranagar has always been a favourite for Bangaloreans who love to spend their Sunday evenings with good food, drinks and live music. Known for live band performances on the first day of every week, Take 5 has been a popular destination among music lovers and young professionals for years. And when this much loved pub opens a new branch at another corner of Indiranagar, we decided to check it out and come back with a report card. The moment you step in, you know that this Take 5 is different. Unlike the dim lighting with a top light focused on each round table at the old hangout, the new Take 5 is designed on sleek lounge lines, brightly lit with white walls and black sofas. Sadly, there is no live music here and for a moment; you may feel that this new address lacks the signature intimacy that Take 5 assures.

However, one look at the menu and your spirits will surely lift. We noticed that this new Take 5 also offers the usual pasta, Chinese and Continental dishes with few new additions. The first order Take 5 cocktailu00a0 (Rs 400) came with starters Bacon Wrapped Chicken (Rs 200) and Take 5 Special Chicken (Rs 183). For all those, who love whisky, this concoction of triple sec, apple juice with a dash of lime juice served up with crushed ice is a sure delight. The bacon wrapped chicken was low on salt and was nothing to write home about. But the Take 5 Special Chicken was the clear winner and went perfect with a wasabi mayo dip.

Bits of veggies and parmesan cheese were rolled together in chicken salami, coated with biscuit crumbs and deep fried tasted gooey and cheesy. The wasabi dip added the required punch,u00a0u00a0Our main course Mustard Crusted Grilled Pork (Rs 285) and Chicken Parmagianno (R 285)both fared equally well. The Chicken Parmagianno came with two giant pieces of breaded chicken layered with Parmesan cheese and spread on a bed of spaghetti tossed in red Sicilian tomato sauce with a hint of herb. Not very spicy, the spaghetti tossed up with lots of garlic, herbs and sun dried tomatoes tasted well with the crunchy, crusty chicken. The pork was marinated in a mustard sauce and grilled till tender and came with buttery mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. The meat had been grilled till the fat was ready to fall off literally and tasted divine with the pepper sauce, the mashed potatoes adding the required carb hit to the dish.

The Chocolate Fondant (Rs 150) was a lovely chocolaty, gooey end to our meal. The fondant came crumbled amidst thick chocolate sauce that tasted a bit salty thanks to the addition of extra butter probably to the sauce. For all those Take 5 fans, the new address maybe disappointing in terms of ambience but the food will make you happy. Our only grouse, the music is just too loud for the elegant ambience of the new Take 5 avatar.
