UGC NET Exam 2021: Admit Card to be out soon, check Syllabus and Exam Pattern

UGC NET 2021: National Testing Agency is likely to release the admit cards for UGC NET 2021 at https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/. Those who had registered for the Dec/May exam and June 2021, would be required to download the admit card to write the exam.


UGC NET Exam 2021 is scheduled from October 6, 2021. To avoid the clash with the October 10 exam, NTA revised the exam dates to October 17 to 19, 2021.


Candidates who want to pursue their career in the research and teaching field can give the UGC NET exam and put in their efforts to get a decent job. University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is a national-level exam taken to evaluate candidates’ eligibility for Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor. Every year, lakhs of aspirants apply for the UGC NET exam with a focused mind to become a lecturer or researcher in their selected fields.

Pattern of UGC NET 2021 Examination

  • The mode of the exam is online.
  • The exam will be taken in two papers; MCQs based questions will be asked in the exam.
  • No break-in between both papers will be provided to the candidates.
  • The total weightage of Paper I will be 100 while Paper-II will be 200 marks.
  • All questions are compulsory to attend.
  • The time limit to write the UGC NET 2021 is three hours.
  • Candidates will not lose any marks for incorrect answers. Also, no negative marking will be there for unanswered or marked for review questions.
  • For every correct option, candidates will get 2 marks.

Syllabus for UGC NET 2021

UGC NET Paper 1 is common for all, and all candidates are supposed to give this paper. Paper 1 comprises a total of 50 questions with 100 marks. Paper 1 syllabus has 10 units and 5 questions from each unit come in the exam. While candidates can select the subject for paper 2 based on their preference. Paper 2 will have a total of 100 questions completely based on the subject chosen by the candidate.

Characteristics and basic requirements, Concepts, objectives, levels of teaching, etc.

Learner’s characteristics: Characteristics of adolescent and adult learners (academic, social, emotional, and cognitive), individual differences

Factors affecting teaching regarding: Teacher, Learner, Instructional facilities, Support material, etc.

Methods of teaching applied in institutions for higher learning: Teacher centred vs. learner centred ways; offline vs. online methods, etc.

Teaching support system: Traditional, modern, and ICT

Evaluation systems: Evaluation in Choice Based Credit System in higher education, Elements and types of evaluation, online testing, etc.

Unit-II: Research Aptitude

Research: Positivism and post-positivist approach, Meaning, types, and characteristics, etc.

Methods of research: Experimental, descriptive, historical, qualitative and quantitative methods

Unit-III: Comprehension

A passage of text will be provided. Candidates are supposed to give answers in reference to the passage.

Communication: Meaning, types and characteristics of communication

Effective communication: Verbal/non-verbal, inter-cultural/group communications, classroom communication

Mass-media, society, etc.

Unit-V: Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude

Types of reasoning

Number series, letter series, codes and relationships

Unit-VI: Logical Reasoning

Understanding the structure of arguments: Mood and figure, formal and informal fallacies, Argument forms, structure of categorical propositions, uses of language, connotations and denotations of terms, the classical square of opposition

Evaluating and distinguishing deductive and inductive reasoning

Analogies

Venn diagram: Simple and many uses for establishing validity of arguments

Indian Logic: Means of knowledge

Pramanas: Pratyaksha, Anumana, Upamana, Shabda, Arthapatti (Implication) and Anupalabddhi (Non-apprehension)

Candidates should note that UGC NET 2021 Paper I is conducted to judge their research and teaching aptitude. UGC NET 2021 Exam is conducted by NTA to judge candidate’s eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or Assistant Professor only posts in Indian Universities and Colleges.
