My friend saw my guy with his ex-flame!

Dear Diana,
My boyfriend and I have been dating for six months now. Last week, my friend saw him with his former girlfriend. She now feels he is still in touch with his former flame. I asked him about it and he told me that it was all over between them and that he happened to bump into her. So he had to be cordial to her. But my friend has this nagging doubt. She feels they will be together soon and that he is whiling time with me. Do Iu00a0 believe her?

Dear JG,

It could be that this friend of yours is jealous of you. You may find it hard to believe, but then why is she talking like this to you? Your guy could very well be innocent and telling the truth. But you need to talk to him and ask him if he is still friendly with the ex. If you love him and trust him and so does he, he will tell the truth. There is no point in doubting him and ruining your relationship with him. Tell your friend to keep her suggestions to herself.

My sister is in love with our neighbour's son

Dear Diana,
My sister is in love with our neighbour's son. They meet on the sly as we belong to different communities. She has confided in me but told me not to tell our parents. Should I listen to my sister and keep mum?
-TR

Dear TR,

How serious is your sister about the relationship? If they both are, you should tell your parents. There is no point hiding the truth because one day they will find out and all hell will break loose. Talk to them, I am sure they will understand things and sort out the issues concerned.

I am so lonely...

Dear Diana,

I am a 19-year-old collegian. I feel alone even when I am surrounded by people. I live in a joint family consisting of uncles, cousins and grandparents. But no one understands me. Why do I feel like this? Is something wrong with me?
-u00a0Akshi

Dear Akshi,
At your age, many teenagers go through a painful phase of 'nobody understands me'.u00a0u00a0 And most of them come happily out of it to find their own place in the world. It's common that adults want their children to behave in certain ways and have certain interests and aspirations because they think that's the best way. This is a passing phase in life. But at the same time, you, too should get more participative in matters. Being aloof will not help, it will only aggravate the matter.
