Dear Diana, I am an attractive girl and get a lot of attention from guys. I ignore it but when my mother is around, she creates a scene scaring the guys away.
I find it very embarrassing and now she seems to think it’s my fault! She feels as if I am a commercial sex worker enticing prospective customers! I do not wear make up or revealing outfits and I am a decent girl. She also calls me names in front of other family members. How do I make her understand? Why is she behaving like this? Is it because my elder sister (who my parents dote on) is not that pretty?

Dear Fahbeen,
Is she your stepmother that she is berating you for everything? But it does not look like from your question. So obviously your mom is behaving like a insecure psycho when you are around. You say you are endowed by natural beauty and don’t resort to cosmetics and fancy designer wear. Any sane woman would be proud to have such a beautiful daughter and take credit by saying it’s in the genes. But your mother is on a different trip. By calling you names and saying that you are enticing the guys is the height. She’s gone crazy. Sibling rivalry is common but in your case your sister is adding fuel to the fire. Be wary of her. Speak to a senior family member and seek help. And what about your father? Why is he a silent witness to all this? He needs to stand up for you.
