The restaurant whips up plenty of options that span Thai, Chinese, Indian and Italian cuisine
The prospect of heading to Hiranandani Estate on the outskirts of Thane city on a Sunday seemed like an exhausting proposition. So, we were hoping that the trail to reach the suburb’s newest multi-cuisine restaurant, Trsna, was worth our every minute. Our first look at their expansive menu got us piqued to probe further. There were the expected inclusions in the Chinese and Indian sections that included Chicken 65, Hakka Noodles and Vegetable Kolhapuri, and some unpronounceable ones too like Phad Kha Praow Kheo Pod Wan. Trsna has a separate seafood section that consists of starters and mains.

We started with a simple Paneer Shashlik Tikka ('250, inclusive of taxes) and a Chicken PM ('320) with After Monsoon ('190) and Spicy Guava ('175) as our mocktail choices (remember the don’t drink and drive slogan?). Though a bit steep, we were happy with the portions. Our mocktails arrived first, and for the sweet-toothed like yours truly, After Monsoon will hit the right spot with its mix of apple and butterscotch ice cream. The Spicy Guava didn’t fare too bad either — we liked the freshness of the guava that contrasted the spicy Tabasco, along with the salt and chilli on the rim. As if on cue, our starters arrived. The chunks of soft paneer were a riot thanks to the creamy marinade. The Chicken PM had cubes of tender chicken and vegetables, and was cooked in a butter, garlic and chilli sauce, with crispy fries on the side.
Buoyed by a good start, we ordered for Seekh Kebab Masala ('330) that was complemented with Kheema Naan ('125). While the gravy was tasty, the chewy and tough kebabs played spoiler. The Kheema Naan lifted our spirits, with its generous filling that made for a meal in itself — a must-try. Trsna doesn’t offer too many options in its dessert section, so we had to settle for Caramel Custard ('100) and Gulab Jamun ('90). The custard was passable but thankfully, the piping hot gulab jamuns helped us end our gastronomic adventure on au00a0sweet note.
