Seek a novel form of expression at this exhibition of handmade collages

This exhibition in Mumbai lets you interpret collages along with a workshop for attendees

When did you last slow down to find a unique and creative way to express your thoughts? An upcoming exhibition in the city will let you appreciate art while trying your hand at it. Curated by designer-architect Siddheshwari Ambekar, Don’t Try is a display of handcrafted collage pieces by photographer Shahnawaz Siddiqui. Both Ambekar and Siddiqui are the co-founders of Slow Studio — a platform professing the cause of slow living. About his work, Siddiqui shares, “I made these collages as a reflection of my ideas. I call the exhibition immersive because it uses tactile materials. Different kinds of fabric have been used to put this together; their textures and the manner in which the pieces have been arranged tell varied tales. Although there’s no overarching theme, there’s a sense of flow.” Siddiqui notes that he is looking forward to the different interpretations of the collage pieces by visitors.

This display also includes a workshop for interested attendees. Siddiqui reveals, “Anybody can sign up and participate. No special skills are required to be a part of this.” He stresses that while creating art, attendees might discover a hobby that’s in contrast with their personality.
