Indrani Mukerjea's basic rights are being denied, says lawyer

Indrani’s lawyer, Gunjan Mangla filed an application before the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate court, seeking to meet her client.

The application claimed that since Indrani’s arrest, the police had not allowed the lawyer to meet her, and Indrani had not even been provided with basic necessities.

“On the first day, they didn’t let us meet her, saying the investigation was going. They said the same thing the next day, and so we have approached the court on an urgent basis.

This is a constitutional right that she must be given,” said the lawyer, whose application also requested that Indrani be allowed a fresh pair of clothes and home food. The court asked the public prosecutor to file a reply on Friday.
