Eager to beat the anti-incumbency factor and emerge victorious at the upcoming civic polls, the Delhi unit of the BJP will use Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's rath -- considered a lucky mascot within the party -- for the election campaign.

The BJP, which is ruling the Delhi civic body, is hoping to beat anti-incumbency the way Narendra Modi did in Gujarat in 2007. Party leaders claim that it was the "lucky" rath that rode Modi to the CM chair, despite a blaring anti-Modi wave in the state.u00a0 Hence, the state BJP unit too will take out a 15-day-long Jan Sangharsh Rath Yatra from Saturday. The yatra, which will be flagged off by BJP National President Nitin Gadkari from Burari ground in Outer Delhi, will end on February 25 at Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi.
"This rath has proved lucky for us at several occasions. After the success in Gujarat elections, BJP Youth Wing Chief Anurag Thakur used the rath for his Tiranga Yatra to Kashmir last year, which was a huge success," said Vijender Gupta, president, Delhi BJP.
He added, "However, it's not the rath that we are relying on. We'll highlight bad governance, corruption and inefficiency of the Sheila Dikshit government in the state."
The saviour!
The mini bus -- registered in Gujarat -- was first customised by the BJP's Gujarat unit in 2007 for Narendra Modi. The hi-tech vehicle is fully air-conditioned and has a sofa-cum-bed, a TV set, computer, public address system and four cameras with a 360 view. Besides, the roof of the bus can be converted into a platform that can easily accommodate 10 people. The bus also has a manual sky lift to take people taken to the roof.u00a0
