Andrew Chettiyar, 27, a resident of Andheri, works with the BMC. After dinner at home on Monday, his children Rachel, 4, and Alex, 2, demanded falooda. So, Andrew took his family to Bandra West, and they were returning home when the accident happened. "Alex was sitting in the front, on the fuel tank, and Rachel between me and my wife," Andrew said. When we took the Kherwadi flyover, the speed of my bike was around 40 kmph, which is when a Qualis overtook me almost knocking us down. I somehow controlled the bike, but eventually lost balance," Andrew said.

"Passing motorists took the family to Bhabha Hospital, Bandra," said an officer. Andrew suffered deep bruises on the chin, the left hand and the knees. Wife Reema and the children sustained serious head injuries.

A doctor from the casualty section said, "All the injured were brought to hospital in time, reducing blood loss."

An officer said, "We will check the CCTVs on the highway. We have also sought a medical test of Chettiar to check whether he was drunk."
