Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde displayed swift action and concern as he halted his convoy en route from Thane to Mumbai upon encountering a tanker accident leading to an oil spill.

The incident occurred between Mulund and Bhandup on the Eastern Expressway. Shinde promptly intervened, ensuring the site's safety and preventing potential accidents due to the spilt oil on the road, reported ANI.

According to the ANI report, scheduled to visit the Varsha residence for Maharashtra Day celebrations, Shinde prioritised addressing the accident to safeguard commuters' well-being.

Taking to his official X handle, the Chief Minister shared updates on Maharashtra Day festivities at Varsha residence, expressing gratitude to all officers, staff, and police personnel present.

"On the occasion of 1st May Maharashtra Day, Varsha's residence was hoisted and flag saluted. On this occasion, all the officers, staff, and policemen of the Chief Minister's office were present. Happy Maharashtra Day to all of them," said CM Shinde in his social media post.

In related developments, Shinde recently announced Shiv Sena's candidates for Mumbai South and Mumbai North West Lok Sabha seats. Yamini Jadhav, supported by Shinde's faction, will contest against incumbent Sena UBT MP Arvind Sawant for Mumbai South. Ravindra Waikar, another MLA aligned with Shinde, will compete against MVA candidate Amol Kirtikar for Mumbai North West.

The Shinde faction also announced their candidates for Thane and Kalyan Lok Sabha seats. While the party has fielded Naresh Mhaske from Thane, his son Shrikant has been fielded from Kalyan yet again. He is the incumbent MP from Kalyan seat.
