Covid-19: Mumbai reports 54 per cent of all active cases from Maharashtra

According to the civic body's report, Mumbai has 103 active cases. The city has crossed the mark of reporting more than 100 active Covid-19 cases after three months

Mumbai reported 16 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, the BMC's health bulletin showed.


According to the civic body's report, Mumbai has 103 active cases. The city has crossed the mark of reporting more than 100 active Covid-19 cases after three months.


Around 12 patients recovered and were discharged from the hospital on August 31. 


As per the report, Mumbai's recovery rate is at 98.3 per cent and its doubling rate is 58,510 days.

"There were 247 Covid-19 tests conducted in the city in the last 24 hours," the release stated.

"Out of the total positive patients, 56 per cent of the cases are asymptomatic," added the release.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra recorded 25 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday. Maharashtra presently has 195 active cases out of which Mumbai recorded 103 active cases.

Around 29 patients were discharged on August 31 taking the total tally of recovered patients to 80,21,989 to date.

The Recovery rate in the state is 98.18 per cent and the case fatality rate in the state is 1.81 per cent.

"Out of 8,74,83,617 laboratory samples 81,70,737 have tested positive (9.34 per cent) for Covid-19 until today," the state govt release stated.

At present dominant variant of Covid is Omicron XBB.1.16. Total 1733 cases were found to be infected with this variant. There were 19 deaths reported among the cases of this variant.

Since January 1, 2023, 127 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded. 72.44 per cent of these deaths have occurred in individuals above 60 years of age, 84 per cent of the deceased had comorbidities, 16 per cent did not have any comorbidity.
