A multi-millionaire businessman from Mumbai, Sanjay Dinesh Shah, died in a tragic incident where a crane fell on him during the 25th-anniversary celebration of his company in Hyderabad. Shah belongs to the Jain community and recently constructed a large temple in Patan village, Gujarat, and a hospital in Bihar to provide free treatment to those in need. He was the CEO and founder of Vistex Inc in Chicago, USA. Shah was an NRI from Chicago and resided in Krishna Kunj Society in Marine Lines. On Friday, his body was brought to Marine Lines for his funeral.

According to sources close to Shah, “Sanjay Shah was a business tycoon who founded this company 25 years ago. He came to Mumbai on Monday in his aeroplane to celebrate his company’s silver jubilee. He met his parents, brother, and their families in Marine Lines. After the celebration, Shah planned to take his family to Bihar to visit the hospital he built. On Thursday morning, the entire Shah family went to Hyderabad on a private jet. The incident took place at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad during the company’s celebration.”

The company celebration was organised at Lime Light Garden in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, on January 18 and 19. Speaking with mid-day, Police Inspector Manmohan Yadav from Abdullapurmet police station said, “On January 18, around 11 pm, we received a complaint from Vistex company’s executive director, Janakiram Raku Kalidindi. He stated that Shah, the owner and founder of Vistex, residing in Chicago, USA, planned to celebrate his company’s 25th anniversary at Ramoji Film City.”

“When the celebrations were starting on January 18, around 7.40 pm, an iron cage with wood (aerial act) containing six-millimetre iron wire with two layers on both sides suddenly had one rope break. It fell on Shah, 56, and Vishwanath Raju Datla, 52, the president of Vistex Inc. The iron cage fell from a height of 20 feet onto the concrete stage. Shah suffered serious leg and hand injuries, while Datla suffered a head injury. They were rushed to Maxi Cure Hospital and then transferred to Yashoda Hospital, Malakpet. Shah died at 12.30 am on Friday. Datla’s condition remains serious, and he is still under treatment. A case was registered against Ramoji Event Authorities,” Yadav said.
