Potholes on the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road at Nahur East forced a Mulund youth to stay home for a week. Shrey Shah had a minor accident at the junction of Mulund Railway Godown and MGLR last week due to a pothole.

Shrey, who works with a leading IT company in Powai, narrated the incident, “I was heading to my office from home last Tuesday around 12.15 pm. Normally, Lal Bahadur Shastri Road is the nearest option, but I avoid it due to traffic congestion and potholes. I use the Eastern Express Highway and then the Vikhroli-Jogeshwari Link Road,” he said. “On that day, I was using the same road, riding at a speed of 40 to 45 kilometres per hour, with light drizzling. Suddenly, I noticed a pothole that was not visible from a distance due to accumulated water,” Shrey added.

“I hit the brakes, but the bike skidded on the sandy surface. I also skidded along with the bike, injuring both my palms and my right thigh. A car behind me stopped, and the lady in the car offered tissue paper to clean the wound. She mentioned that similar accidents had occurred at that spot before. Some fellow bikers also stopped, advising me to visit the civic hospital to record the accident. However, I went home and got treated by a private doctor, who confirmed no serious injuries,” Shrey explained.

Shrey’s mother, Namrata Shah, expressed her shock upon seeing her son’s injuries, especially his bloody knee, but felt relieved that the injuries weren’t more severe. She said, “We don’t have any complaints, but the administration should take precautions to prevent such incidents from happening again. If this can happen to a young person like him, it could be much worse for senior citizens. We hope such accidents will be prevented.”
