Those travelling to international countries for work, education and those participating in the Tokyo Olympics can now get their second dose of Covishield after a gap of 28 days instead of 84 days. The BMC issued a circular that allows those travelling abroad to complete their vaccination process. A proforma will have to be filled by these beneficiaries that will be uploaded on the CoWIN portal to fulfil the procedure.

People in need of the service will have to submit relevant documents at the vaccination centre to get the second dose. Students going abroad for studies will have to submit Visa documents or admit cards; those going for work will have to produce documents from their employer, and those going for interviews will also have to provide letters from prospective employers. Those going to Tokyo for the Olympics will need formal letters from the government’s sports department.

The passport number has to be given only if a beneficiary gave the passport as ID proof for the first dose. If not, then the passport number and proforma would be additional documents to be uploaded on the CoWIN portal. The relaxation in the interval will be allowed till August 31.

On Tuesday, there were 75,867 vaccine beneficiaries, including 57,163 at private centres. The city has so far inoculated 41,87,747 people, out of which 8,38,487 have been given both doses. On Tuesday, there were 48,730 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-44 years, along with 198 lactating mothers and 337 students/professionals travelling abroad. The turnout of senior citizens was 10,020 whereas, of those aged 45 years and above it was 14,798, of health care workers it was 1,126 and that of front line workers it was 658.
