Mumbai News LIVE Updates: Govt in touch with district, police administration: CM Fadnavis on ferry capsize incident
"We have received reports of an accident involving the boat Nilkamal, which was heading towards Elephanta. Boats from the Navy, Coast Guard, Port and Police teams have been immediately dispatched for assistance. We are in constant touch with the district and police administration and fortunately most of the citizens have been rescued. However, rescue operations are still underway. Orders have been given to the district administration to deploy all the necessary machinery for the rescue operation," said CM Devendra Fadnavis on X.

Mumbai News LIVE Updates: Mumbai: At least one passenger dead after ferry boat capsizes near Elephanta Caves
The Indian Coast Guard has confirmed that the boat, which crashed into the ferry was not associated with them. As of now 77 passengers rescued, as per Coast Gaurd.

At least one passenger has died after a ferry capsized near Elephanta Caves on Wednesday evening. According to the preliminary information received from Mumbai Police, the ferry capsized near Elephanta Island/Butcher Island at 3.55 pm after a small speed boat crashed into it. Read more.
