Monsoon child
Aarti Rao Shetty, jazz singer and owner of Highnote andu00a0B flat
I'm a monsoon child. The first shower puts a smile on my face. I love the smell of the first drops of rain on earth and I feel like nine years old. I just completed my birthday on June 19 and every time I celebrated my birthday during my growing-up days, it would rain heavily and at leastu00a0 one windowpane would break.
My dad would say, "Every year on your birthday, the rains bring in a good omen by breaking a window pane."
A few days back, we had freaky showers when it started with a drizzle and became a downpour. I was at home in Indiranagar. I ran out into the garden and collected hailstones. I stayed out in the rain, with an iPod in my ears, singing loudly. I simply love the rains. I'm an out and out rain baby.
Off with my clothes
Rohit Barker, RJ and MC
Once, many years ago, I went streaking in the rain. I was about 18 years old and ran with nature, with no clothes on. People might laugh but I think every single soul on earth should try it. It's so much fun.
Holiday time
Priya Naik, model
I'm from Mumbai and have been in Bangalore for almost 17 years. Whenever there were heavy rains or cyclones in Mumbai, our schools would declare a holiday and we would thank the rain gods.
Bubbly on a train
Lokesh Pandya, fashion entrepreneur
My wife Dhanya and I were coming back from Chennai around 10 years back the train was packed and it was raining heavily. We had a champagne bottle with us which we opened. We ate our food and thoroughly enjoyed a romantic monsoon moment in a moving, packed train.
Another incident I remember was once when I was going from Bellary to Hyderabad in a Vayudoot (a small plane of the Indian Airlines which is now extinct). I was the only passenger and it was quite an adventurous moment for me when it started raining cats and dogs outside.
Riding in the rain
Prasad Bidapa, fashion choreographer
I love the rains. I think the monsoons are best in Goa where sitting on the beach is beautiful. But in Bangalore, you just feel like crawling into bed and not going out anywhere. In Goa, I remember taking a ride in the rains on a scooter. It was so beautiful. I will always cherish it lifelong.
Rain romance
Amrita Gokaney, fashion entrepreneur
The most treasured monsoon moments are when Uday and I sit out in our garden terrace and watch the rains falling. Just the two of us, without the domestic helpu00a0 serving or anyone looking at us. Might sound cheeky but, believe me, it's very romantic.
