'My daughter was not under exam stress'

Not believing the reasons cited by college authorities, Raju Kale, father of Vrushali (18) who allegedly committed suicide on January 6, told MiD DAY that his daughter was not under stress and was in fact "pressurised by the hostel supervisor H D Lahane for returning late from Christmas vacation".

Kale suspects that she was forced to commit suicide.

Kale, a social worker from Nanded, has demanded a CBI enquiry in the matter.

Under pressure
He said, "Vrushali's mother Varsha received a call from H D Lahane late afternoon on January 6, hostel who said our daughter was serious and was admitted to the hospital. When we reached the college at 9.30 am the next day, college authorities did not entertain us and directed us to Sassoon Hospital. There we were taken to local police chowky where they showed me the suicide note."

Principal H A Dhanawade had said, "Vrushali was an average student and just managed to pass in the previous examination, but no one knew that she was under some pressure."

Absconding
Meanwhile, the Haveli police station has registered a case of abetment to suicide against the supervisor.

PI A D Patil said, "The hostel supervisor H D Lahane has managed to get anticipatory bail and is currently absconding."

According to Vrushali's parents they had spoken to her on January 2 and that she was not given food and was asked to sleep in the common hall. And for the next couple of days, her mobile phone was switched off.

Vrushali, a nursing college student, allegedly committed suicide after hanging herself at Laxmi Hostel in Narhe, Ambegaon near Pune.
