Unfazed over the CM's accusations that the deadline for removal of malba could not be met due to the lackadaisical attitude of other agencies (read MCD), the Mayor said: "Its not the time for blame games. We have to work together complete the projects on time. I am joining her on Wednesday to oversee the progress.
On Tuesday morning Sheila Dikshit had said: "Agencies which are not under the Delhi Government and which are undertaking various construction activities are responsible for it (the debris)."
"Let her say whatever she wants. I do not want to indulge in mudslinging. The fact is that debris removal work is suffering because there is construction work going on in many areas and I can say with conviction that it is the least in MCD zones," claimed Sawhney. "When so much construction work is going on how can you assume there would be no debris? I think she was ill advised by someone," said, a senior MCD official.u00a0
The city government has dumped 80 thousand metric tonnes of debris including 50 thousand metric tones dumped by MCD.
IT'S A DATE
Last month, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had set August 10 as deadline for removing all construction waste across the city and ordered all civic agencies to strictly comply with the time-frame. Admitting that the earlier deadline could not be met due to ongoing construction activities, Dikshit said all construction waste will be cleared from the project sites as soon as possible. "When you build a road or a house or a building, construction waste is bound to be there," she said when asked about the situation.
