The National Defence Academy (NDA) held the convocation for the 123rd course at the Habibullah Hall yesterday. At the ceremony, the commandant's silver medal and the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) trophy for the cadet standing first in science stream was awarded to cadet Atmakumar S Bhat.
Cadets Bhojpal Shakya and Pramod Singh were given medals for standing first in Social Science and Computer Science streams respectively. Bhojpal was also awarded the Admiral’s Trophy for standing first in the overall order of merit.

Besides, 313 cadets were awarded graduation degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University, out of which 90 cadets were awarded BA, 77 BSc computer science and 146 BSc degrees respectively.
Lt Gen Ashok Singh, Commandant NDA, welcomed the chief guest CM Prithviraj Chavan at the occasion who conferred the oath of graduation to the cadets. Later, while addressing the gathering, the CM gave the thumbs up to the Centre’s proposed opening up of defence production.
“The newly proposed defence equipment production policy would benefit the business sector of the country, as the Centre is trying to involve private players also,” said Prithviraj Chavan.u00a0
