Munna Yadav, who belongs to OBC community, was angry at his daughter Kalpana (15) after she had eloped last month with a married man named Santlal Kewat, also an OBC but from a different caste, they said.
Yadav, residing at Simra town near here, had brought back his daughter from Kewat's place yesterday, police said.
This morning, there was a heated argument between Yadav and Kalpana following which he shot her dead, they said.
Yadav told the police that he killed Kalpana because she had brought a 'bad name' to his family in the community, police said.
He told police that because of Kalpana, people would not marry his three other daughters.
"It is a case of dishonour killing," Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sunil Tiwari told reporters.
Yadav has been arrested while one more person Ballu Kewat has been picked up in this connection, police said.
