CNG Innova cuts carbon emissions by 90% and running cost by half
Toyota's CNG Innova offers you a greener, cleaner and cheaper ride at Re 1 per km.
The company's first CNG vehicle and India's first energy-efficient multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) uses CNG as an alternate fuel. "You have both economy and comfort in the newly-launched Innova," said Sanjay, an auto consultant.
Though the MPV is being produced in Bangalore, the city will have to wait. For now, it is available only in New Delhi, Hyderabad, Surat, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
Economical
The vehicle has the 1998 cc petrol engine, which is compatible with CNG. It also has a manual selector that enables the driver to switch from gasoline to CNG.
With a 12-kg on board cylinder, the running cost on CNG is estimated to be around Re 1/km with a mileage of 11.5 km/kg.u00a0
"Taking into account the mileage, increased engine oil life and reduced maintenance costs, CNG Innova offers about 50 per cent saving over diesel in running costs," said a Kirloskar spokesperson.
Eco-friendly
"Besides being economical, the vehicle is eco-friendly too," said Sandeep Singh, deputy manager, Toyota Kirloskar Motors.
Compared to petrol and diesel powered MPV's, CNG Innova can reduce carbon monoxide emissions by 90 %.
Cost factor
CNG vehicles are available at an extra payment of Rs 85 000 on Innova (petrol) models that range from Rs 7.66 lakh to Rs 11.6 lakh.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0
