Two senior citizen couples were robbed in broad day light, in separate incidents, on Tuesday. In the first incident, four masked men barged into the house of an elderly couple in Jafrabad area of north-east district on Tuesday afternoon, around 1pm.

They then robbed Rs 4 lakh cash and jewellery worth of Rs 2.5 lakh on gun point. "The couple, Hazi Afzal (65) and his wife Haseena (60), were kept hostage at gun point. At the time of the incident, their only son, who stays at the first floor, was not home. The Crime Branch team arrived at the spot and have taken fingerprints," said a police official.
According to the police, a case regarding the incident has been registered and hunt is on to nab the culprits.
In yet another incident, some unidentified assailants barged into the house of Prem Singh and robbed Rs one lakh cash and 20 pieces of jewellery in Keshawpuram area of north-west district.
According to the police official, a PCR call was made around 3 pm. "A hunt is on to apprehend the accused and a case has been registered. Further investigation is in process," said an officer.
