Momo mania WHAT's ON found a healthy snack replacement piping hot Momos. We tell you why Monsoon Momos should be your evening caper

Monsoon Momos The Steamed Food Cafe is a small eatery tucked away in Model Colony.

The place is done up in vibrant blues and reds. It offers only basic seating arrangement, since it is primarily a takeaway joint.

But, space constraints do not deter Momo enthusiasts, especially students, young professionals and foreigners residing in the area, from frequenting this joint.u00a0

On the menu: The restaurant's tag line Eat More, Pay Less, is suitable to its offerings. They offer Mutton Momos (Rs 10 each) as well as Chicken Tukpas with noodles (Rs 30).

We recommend the Veg Clear Soup with Burnt Garlic (Rs 25). The only dessert Monsoon Momos whips up is Caramel Custard (Rs 20). We also discovered that momos taste great with a cup of espresso coffee. Try it out!

We Tried: We started with Veg Momos (Rs 6.50 per piece). We relished the big pieces of steaming hot dumplings served with chilli-tomato sauce. The outer layer of the dumpling is smooth and made of flour, while the filling comprises finely chopped vegetables and spices.

We moved on to tasty Chicken Momos (Rs 8.50 per piece). The crescent-shaped Momos are stuffed with minced chicken in ginger-garlic paste.

However, we found the Veg Tukpa (Rs 25) average. It was served steaming hot and prepared using boiled veggies like cabbage, cauliflower, carrots and spring onions minus the noodles. The taste was bland and we had to add salt and pepper to make it edible.

At: Shop 11, Vrindavan Apartments, near DSK Toyota, Model Colony.u00a0 Call 25667633. Timings: 4 pm to 10 pm. Closed on Tuesdays

What is a Momo?

Momo is a traditional Tibetan delicacy and signifies a dumpling. On a philosophical note, Buddhist practitioners believe that if you chant the word Momo in low tones repeatedly, it spirals you towards cosmic nothingness.
