Singer plans super specialty unit at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital

Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, who turns 80 today, has no intentions to relax. After opening the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital (DMH) in Pune in 2001 in memory of her late father, the singer plans to start a super specialty unit. The estimated cost of the ward is Rs 60 crore.

"Expansion plans of the DMH are being planned in Pune and will be completed accordingly. In fact, I will be visiting the city to lay the foundation stone," Mangeshkar told MiD DAY. The new unit that will come up in the hospital area will provide world-class health facilities and promises to improve medical tourism.

Dr Dhananjay Kelkar, medical director, DMH, informed that the date to lay the foundation stone will be decided in the next few days. Kelkar added, "We have acquired the necessary permission from the government and the PMC and have completed all the formalities for the expansion plan. We are now waiting for Lataji's suggestions for the specialty ward, including its colour."
