Insurance executive burns hands trying to douse flames, says he has no enemies and no clue why anyone would want to burn his three vehicles

Chandrashekhar, and his family members say they have no idea who set their vehicles on fire or why. The police suspect 'frustrated individuals' might have done it.

Rude awakening
"A loud thud awakened me in the middle of the night. I rushed to the window, where I saw a group of three on a motorcycle that poured something on my Zen Estilo, Pulsar and Honda Activa bikes parked at the compound. I called for help. But before I could gather my wits, the three set fire to the vehicles and sped away," Chandrashekhar said in his complaint.
Chandrashekhar and his brother sustained burns on their hands, when they attempted to douse the fire. The brothers were admitted to Victoria hospital by the police, and discharged a few hours later.
Just thrill-seekers?
Commercial Street Police Inspector S Badrinath told MiD DAY that it could be the handiwork of people seeking cheap thrills.
"We suspect mischief mongers. It could be mechanics, who use cotton rags to clean fuel off vehicles. Similar rags were found to have been used to set Chandrashekhar's vehicles on fire. We are investigating the incident of arson.
A case has been registered against three unidentified assailants,"u00a0 said Badrinath.
Shock of their life
Chandrashekhar's wife, Kalpana Chandrashekhar told MiD DAY that her family has been living in Tuskar Town for the last 60 years.
Kalpana said, "We live in our ancestral house. We have never faced any untoward incident until the one on Saturday. It was horrible. The fire had enveloped the entire compound. We were very scared. My husband has no enemies, so we don't know whom to suspect."
