Now, Deputy Lokayukta resigns

Three weeks after Lokayukta Justice Shivraj Patil stepped down owing to his alleged involvement in a land scam case, his deputy Justice R Gururajan's resignation yesterday is largely being seen as a self-protection move.

According to political experts, Gururajan, who owns an apartment in Malleshwaram and even got allotted a plot too in Judicial layout, perhaps took this precautionary step to retain his property and avoid the embarrassment of being dragged into a controversy.

Justice Gururajan tendered his resignation to the governor H Bharadwaj within one and a half months of his appointment.
