Officer says her house has been targeted at least five times in the recent past

Delhi police has been panned by none other than the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to President Pratibha Devisingh Patil.

GATED: Residence of Archna Datta. PIC/Imtiyaz Khan

The crux of the matter is a number of thefts that have taken place at Archna Datta's residence in the past year. The officer reportedly wrote a letter to the in-charge of the police post at North Avenue and expressed her anguish.

Archna's grouse is that despite her reporting the incidents to the police, the thefts continued unabated and the cops have been unable to apprehend the culprit so far. Recently when the thieves disappeared with a manhole cover, the officer got furious and lashed out at the police in her complaint letter.

"A considerable time has since elapsed but police could not make any breakthrough," read Datta's complaint letter.

Incidents of theft were reported from her house on the 7th and 11th of June last year. She filed a complaint with the police on August 25 last year. A senior police officer said that an unidentified thief had also taken away Datta's home water-motor.

"She lives in House Number 7 in President's Estate at Talkatora Road. An FIR has been registered at Parliament Street Police Station. This time too the thief is on the run and we don't have any clues about the culprit," said a senior police officer.
