At the Third Atelier's Youth Theatre Week, you get to do everything from witnessing popular screen villains to winning a two-wheeler

Delhi's biggest drama queen is back. The Atelier's Youth Theatre Week, which is putting some young mavericks on stage this time around, has taken throne. We unroll the power papyrus.

The groups hail from places as far and wide as Mumbai, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu, Assam and Manipur. The event, organised by Atelier's Theatre Society and art marketers Rock Castle, has also received support from Government of Delhi and National School of Drama. Of the five days of campus theatre, two days are completely dedicated to the students of University of Delhi.

Professional theatre performers will also be a part of this affair, which aims to establish a platform for students who think they have a knack for acting. Prominent theatre and Bollywood actors like Saurabh Shukla (Kallu Mama of Satya), Vinay Pathak, Gul Panag and Piyush Mishra (of Gulaal fame) will be interacting with the participants and attendees.

Rock and rides
No act is complete without the right chords. Here, you can strike your own, too. If you or your band plays music that's bound to tug at heart-strings, participate in the 'Rock Castle Acoustic Hunt', which is inviting entries in a bid to find the most talented rock band in the city. If vrooms are the only sounds that play in your head, the 'Drive Me Crazy' scriptwriting competition can help you win a 150 CC motorbike. "Being a Delhi University alumnus, I know how tough it is to find a stage where one can demonstrate his talent. But now, students can expect a better deal," assures Alok Nagpal of the organising committee. Participation and contests are open to all, including professional troupes and amateur college groups. Don't hesitate if you're a couple of years ahead, too. "The idea here is not to judge or find a star performer; what we want is to inculcate the habit of theatre in the young generation," signs off Alok.
