Superintendent of Police (Rural) Manojkumar Lohiya said that the attack was the result of a business rivalry between the victim and the accused.
“Shelke has a stone-crushing plant and supplies crushed stones and water to various companies for construction purposes in MIDC area. On Wednesday, Shelke received a threat call from Bunty alias Shankar Dabhade — another accused in the case, who demanded hafta for continuing the business,” said Lohiya.
Shelke then invited Bunty and his accomplice Vishal to his office at Talegaon yesterday morning to settle the matter.
However, at the same time, a group of around 15 people, including Sham Dabhade, forcefully entered the office and attacked him and his kin with a sharp weapon.
Shelke and his supporters later held a protest in front of Talegaon police station demanding immediate arrest of the accused. However, the senior police officers later requested him to call off the protest and assured him of action.
All injured have been admitted in a local hospital in Talegaon.u00a0
