You know it's election time when politicians want to put their best face forward... And start hounding the mask-makers.

Ravi Shankara Bettampadi, who runs a mask-making firm called Eventshouse.in, says inquiries are pouring in and, surprisingly, the majority is for Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Mutalik.
Eventshouse.in sells the masks at prices ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 9 and is expecting huge orders from districts like Shimoga, Bangalore Rural and Bangalore South because of the bigwigs likely to be contesting from there.
"We will be making S Bangarappa's and Yeddyurappa's masks for Shimoga, S M Krishna's and Ananth Kumar's masks for Bangalore South and D K Shivakumar and H D Kumaraswamy's masks for Bangalore Rural. We are getting maximum calls from these districts," said Ravi Shankara Bettampadi.
Eventshouse.in, which sold about three lakh masks during the 2008 assembly polls, expects to sell 20 lakh this time. The masks will start rolling out once political parties announce their candidates.
"We are fully prepared," said Beloor Raghavendra Shetty, Bettampadi's partner. "We have collected photographs of prominent politicians and are waiting for the final list of candidates."u00a0u00a0

And while they wait, they will use that time fruitfully. To hunt out good pictures, for instance. As Bettampadi says: "It's not been easy to come by good pictures of Siddaramaiah and Rahul Gandhi without spectacles."
