In a bid to curb cases of drunk driving, accidents, and to ensure better traffic regulation, city's traffic department will soon procure 30 breathalyzers, tintometers, five speed guns, and four special vans, which will be equipped with modern instruments.
The decision to purchase the instruments was taken after the District Planning and Development Committee (DPDC) sanctioned Rs 2 crore to the department.

Along with these purchases, the traffic police will buy 150 new Public Address Systems that will be used by cops deployed at important junctions across the city.
Also, 500 barricades, 100 walkie-talkie sets will be bought soon to ensure better management during the VIP bandobast. The department plans to install 1,200 reflective metal rod studs at pedestrian crossing and stop lines.
“This is the first time that DPDC has sanctioned funds for to purchase equipment for effective traffic management. The equipment procured with these funds will help us to control fatal accidents, drunk driving case, and to ensure better traffic regulation.” Said DCP (traffic) Vishwas Pandhare.u00a0
