College students speeding on bike collide with car; one of the injured confesses to riding the bike under the influence of alcohol
In a late night accident at Karve road, two college students who were on a bike met with an accident with a
car and were grievously injured. The incident happened around 12.30 am near Garware College.

Eyewitnesses said that the duo on the bike were driving at a high speed and heading towards Kothrud. A car carrying four people came from a lane on the right hand side of the road on which the boys were driving.
"They couldn't slow down in time because they were driving too fast.Their bike dashed into the car damaging its front side completely," said a police official who had reached the spot.
After the collision however while the bike skidded a distance of 100 metres and crashed into a road divider, the two bikers were flung in two opposite directions. Of the four passengers in the car, two who were doctors immediately rushed to help the students.
"Even we were in a state of shock after the incident but we recovered immediately One of them was conscious and speaking when we reached them. The other received some head injuries and unconscious," said Dr Joshi, a family physician, who refused to give her entire name.

She added that the student who was in a conscious state told them that they had been drinking heavily and were driving in an intoxicated state.At the time of going to press, no police complaint had been lodged.
