Days after it made fresh kill in Solapur, locals spot missing tiger in Dharashiv

Days after mid-day.com reported that the tiger, which had traveled from Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary in Yavatmal to Solapur, had made a fresh kill, locals in the nearby Dharashiv district have now claimed to have spotted the wild cat. The tiger that walked from Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary in Yavatmal to Dharashiv in Solapur—covering a distance of over 500 kilometres—was spotted by some villagers near Dharashiv. On Wednesday, mid-day.com had reported that some officials in Solapur had discovered the carcass of cattle.  Farmers alerted the forest department to an increase in cattle attacks over the past weeks. This prompted the installation of camera traps, which captured images of the male tiger. Officials noted that this is the first recorded sighting of a tiger in the Yedshi Ramalinga Wildlife Sanctuary in Osmanabad. Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Kushagra Pathak from the Solapur Forest Department said, “A team of 15 forest officials, including experts from NGO RESQ CT with specialised experience in such operations, is monitoring the tiger's movements using advanced technology such as drones. Thermal drones are part of the operation, and a machaan [raised platform] has been set up near the spot of the cattle kill.” The expert team, including a veterinarian prepared to tranquilise the tiger, will remain stationed on the machaan. Meanwhile, the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) Rapid Rescue Team (RRT), which initially assisted in the operation, has returned to focus on managing wildlife-related conflicts in the Central India region of Maharashtra. The monitoring of the tiger’s movements is being jointly handled by Kushagra Pathak (DCF, Solapur), B A Pol (DCF, Dharashiv), and their teams. The tiger, a two-and-a-half-year-old male, dispersed from Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary in Yavatmal (southwest of Nagpur) and trekked about 500 kilometres to Solapur district. Plans are in place to capture it and release it into the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve, located 300 kilometres from Mumbai and spread across the Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Ratnagiri districts. Researchers have identified the tiger as a cub of tigress T22 from Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, born in 2022. Experts believe the young male tiger is roaming in search of a new territory, repeatedly moving between Solapur and Dharashiv districts.

'Should guide Amit Shah over Delhi's law and order situation': Kejriwal

Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal hit back at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's criticism of the Delhi government over the law and order situation, and said the law and order of the national capital comes under the Union Home Ministry and the former should guide Home Minister Amit Shah regarding how to mend it. Speaking on the law and order situation in the national capital, the former Delhi CM said that "11 gangsters" have captured the entire Delhi. Attacking Amit Shah, further, Kejriwal said the Home Minister is busy "toppling governments" and "poaching MLAs". Speaking to the media, Kejriwal said, "Yogi ji came to Delhi today. He too raised questions on the law and order in Delhi. He said that he mended the law and order in UP. I agree with Yogi ji that Delhi's law and order is very bad.11 gangsters have captured the entire Delhi. Yogi Ji said that he wiped out gangsters in UP. But in Delhi, gangsters are roaming around freely. Firing is taking place on streets. Women can't step out of their houses." "I would like to tell Yogi ji that the law and order in Delhi come under Amit Shah. He should sit down with Amit Shah and guide him, explain to him how law and order has to be mended. Amit Shah is busy toppling governments and poaching MLAs," he added. Kejriwal's remark came after CM Yogi slammed the AAP government in Delhi on the issue of illegal migrants and more. Addressing a public gathering in the Janakpuri Assembly constituency on Thursday, CM Yogi accused Kejriwal's AAP government of 'instigating riots' in 2020 in the national capital with the help of 'Bangladeshi infiltrators'. "With the help of Bangladeshi infiltrators, their (AAP) councillors and officials together instigated riots in 2020. They created chaos and hooliganism in Shaheen Bagh. Today if you look at the states where the double-engine government of the Bharatiya Janata Party is in power, you will find a clean environment there. Form a double-engine government in Delhi and get basic amenities and move towards making Delhi Indraprastha again," CM Yogi said. The Delhi Assembly elections will take place in a single phase on February 5, and the counting of votes is set for February 8. A total of 699 candidates are competing for the 70 assembly seats in Delhi. The Congress, which was in power for 15 consecutive years in Delhi, has suffered setbacks in the last two assembly elections and has failed to win any seats. In contrast, the AAP dominated the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections by winning 67 and 62 seats, respectively, out of a total of 70 seats, while the BJP got only three and eight seats in these elections. Uber, Ola get notices over price disparities

Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Thursday that the Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued notices to cab aggregators Ola and Uber for alleged differential pricing for identical rides based on the user’s mobile operating system—Android or iOS. “As a follow-up to the earlier observation of apparent #DifferentialPricing based on the different models of mobiles (#iPhones/#Android) being used, Department of Consumer Affairs through the CCPA has issued notices to major cab aggregators #Ola and #Uber, seeking their responses,” Joshi said in a social media post. Jaishankar says ready to accept undocumented Indians staying in US

India has always been open to legitimate return of undocumented Indians to their country, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Wednesday, noting that New Delhi is still in the process of verifying those from the US who can be deported to India and the number of such individuals cannot be determined yet. “As a government, we are obviously very much supportive of legal mobility because we do believe in a global workplace. We want Indian talent and Indian skills to have the maximum opportunity at the global level. At the same time, we are also very firmly opposed to illegal mobility and illegal migration,” Jaishankar told a group of Indian reporters here. “Because you also know that when something illegal happens, many other illegal activities get joined onto it, which is not desirable. It is certainly not good reputationally. So, with every country, and the US is no exception, we have always maintained that if any of our citizens are there illegally, and if we are sure that they are our citizens, we have always been open to their legitimate return to India,” Jaishankar said. The minister was responding to a query on news reports that India is working with the Trump administration for the deportation of some 1,80,000 Indians in the US who are either undocumented, or have overstayed their visas. “This position is not unique to the United States. I do understand that right now there is a certain debate going on, and a resulting sensitivity which is there, but we have been consistent, we have been very principled about it and that remains our position. I conveyed that clearly to Secretary (of State, Marco) Rubio,” Jaishankar said. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies.
