The proposed construction of a replica of Kedarnath in Delhi which had created a controversy recently has been withdrawn. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of the temple in Burari. "We decided not to construct the temple as some people from Uttarakhand objected to it and we realised that it would hurt religious sentiments," Suman Mittal, president of the Kedarnath Dham Delhi Trust, which was to build the temple in Burari, said in a press release.

Latest News LIVE Updates: Green transport: Rs 970 cr approved to convert 5k MSRTC buses to LNG-run vehicles
The Maharashtra government on Monday granted approval for the conversion and maintenance of 5000 diesel-run MSRTC buses to Liquified Natural Gas as part of the state-run undertaking`s green transport initiative. A total of Rs 970 crore will be spent, as per the government resolution (GR). "Of the Rs 970 crore, a sum of Rs 40 crore has been sanctioned for 2024-25, Rs 200 crore for 2025-26, Rs 370 crore for 2026-27 and Rs 360 crore for 2027-28. The MSRTC board of directors resolution of November 22 last year puts the conversion, maintenance cost, including the provision of fuel sources, at Rs 19.40 lakh per bus," the GR informed.

Delhi saw a decline in birth rate after the COVID-19 pandemic as it reduced from 18.35 per 1000 population to 14.85 in 2020, according to the latest report of the government. The `Annual Report on Registration of Births and Deaths in Delhi-2023` also said that out of 13,919 non-institutional births, 7,216 (51.84 per cent) were females. Out of 3,01,168 institutional births, 1,94,428 (64.56 per cent) births occurred in government hospitals. Out of the total institutional births, 1,43,891 (47.78 per cent) were females, according to the report.
