Delhi airport authorities issued an advisory warning that flights not CAT III compliant would be impacted by the foggy conditions. CAT III compliance ensures that flight operations can continue even under low visibility conditions.
The advisory urged passengers to contact their respective airlines for the most up-to-date flight information. No reports of cancellations or diversions were received by Delhi Airport authorities as of the latest update.
IndiGo Airlines, in an early morning post, advised passengers to stay updated on their flight status before heading to the airport. Airport operator DIAL confirmed that flights which meet CAT III compliance are still able to depart and land despite the low visibility.
The dense fog led to significant delays, with flight tracking website Flightradar.com showing over 100 flights affected by the weather. The airport operator also recommended that passengers allow extra time for their journey to the airport due to slow-moving traffic caused by reduced visibility.
IndiGo further emphasised the importance of staying informed, suggesting that passengers plan accordingly for possible delays. Delhi's IGIA typically handles around 1,300 flight movements daily, highlighting the scale of disruption caused by the foggy conditions.
