He focused on the prices of essential vegetables like garlic, peas, and mushrooms, which have surged significantly, causing financial strain for families. "Garlic at Rs 400 per kg and peas at Rs 120 per kg have shaken everyone's budget," Gandhi noted in his post, emphasising the severe impact on the common man.
Gandhi mentioned that many families are forced to cut back on daily essentials due to these rising costs, particularly housewives who manage household spending. He also pointed out how stagnant incomes, combined with rising inflation, have made it increasingly difficult for people to manage their basic needs.
Sharing personal stories from housewives, Gandhi noted how they now struggle to even cover small expenses, like rickshaw fares, due to the soaring cost of food. In his post, Gandhi criticised the government's inaction, comparing it to the mythical figure Kumbhakaran, who is said to sleep for long periods.
Gandhi called for citizens to share their experiences with inflation, urging them to speak up about their struggles and how they are coping with the economic challenges. The Congress party also targeted the Modi government for its inability to address inflation, with Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh highlighting how essential goods have seen price hikes of up to 100 percent
Ramesh mocked the government's bullet train announcement, stating that while the train hasn't arrived, inflation has spiralled out of control, exacerbating the plight of ordinary citizens. The Congress continues to press the government on issues like unemployment and price rise, calling for immediate action to alleviate the burden on the common people.
