The Middle East saw nearly a year of violence between Israel, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis. A ceasefire deal brought temporary relief, but Israeli forces are staying in southern Lebanon past the January 27 deadline, breaking the terms of the ceasefire. On January 26, Lebanese people in Burj Al-Muluk tried to return home, defying Israeli orders after the deadline passed. Many crossed barbed wire, some carrying photos of Hezbollah fighters killed in the conflict. Lebanese health officials reported 11 deaths and 83 injuries, including soldiers, from Israeli attacks on civilians trying to return. The Israeli military has not commented on these casualties in Lebanon.
