Independent MP Pappu Yadav raised concerns about the absence of PM Narendra Modi during the Lok Sabha debate on the One Nation, One Election (ONOE) Bill. He pointed out that in 2017, both the Election Commission and the Law Commission had rejected the idea, citing it would harm diversity, free expression, and the federal system. Yadav criticized the BJP for claiming to save money while spending large sums on advertisements for the PM and Chief Ministers. He also questioned why the BJP didn`t support ONOE when they won three elections and needed 300 seats, but now, with 362 seats, they are pushing for it. He emphasized the need for reforms in education, health, justice, and the economy instead of ONOE.
