One third of famous trio of Bee Gees, Robin Gibb, passed away at 62 after battling cancer
Friends, family and fellow musicians have been paying tribute to Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb, who died yesterday aged 62.

The singer, who sold more than 200 million records and notched up dozens of hits with brothers Maurice and Barry, had undergone intestinal surgery and fought a long battle with cancer.
“The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time,” family spokesman Doug Wright said.
The father-of-three had been suffering from colon and liver cancer.u00a0Gibb was one of three brothers whose soaring falsetto harmonies helped power such hits as Stayin Alive and Night Fever.
The band was best known for the influential Saturday Night Fever soundtrack album that became one of the fastest selling albums of all time. Gibb enjoyed a long career as a Bee Gee and as a solo artist and also produced and wrote songs for many other performers. u00a0
