George, who spoke to CNN from his cell phone, said he was arrested on Saturday and released later that day. He claimed all charges against him were dropped.
But the Kenyan police, who said he was held at the Huruma police post in Nairobi and scheduled to appear in court today, refused to comment on any of his claims.
George, who has denied the allegations, said, "They took me from my home. I don't know why they are charging me."
George and Barack Obama barely know each other, though they have met. In his memoir, "Dreams from My Father," Barack Obama describes meeting George as a "painful affair." His trip to Kenya meant meeting family he had never known. The two men share the same father.
