It proved to be a day for batsmen on Day Two of the Harris Shield Elite Group at Cross Maidan and Shivaji Park yesterday. Five centuries were hit, while the lone bowler to strike was Aakash Mishra, who bagged seven wickets to help Swami Vivekanand, Gorai beat Dr S Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya by 354 runs.

Captain Rishi Wadekar's 155 helped Parle Tilak Vidyalaya register an outright win over IES Secondary School (Mulund) by an innings and 127 runs. All-rounder Ronak Shinde of Shardashram Vidyamandir (Marathi) scored 145 to help his school set a target of 319 for Don Bosco (Matunga). At close of play, Don Bosco were struggling with 74 for four. The 15-year-old Shardashram lad hit four sixes and 23 fours in his 117-ball knock.

Rishi, who starred in Parle Tilak's win, was elated. "I started playing cricket five years ago to lose weight. But I had no clue then that cricket would become an addiction. I am glad my innings helped the team win," said the
opening batsman.
Ronak Shinde, who shifted to Shardashram (Dadar) from Sir Elly Kadoorie School CST to pursue cricket, is glad that the move has helped him inch closer to his dream. "I feel proud that my alma mater is the same as my idol Sachin Tendulkar. I want to be a professional cricketer so that I can ask Aai (Sonali) and Baba (Dattaram) to opt for an early retirement," said Ronak.
At Shivaji Park, IES V N Sule Guruji's (Dadar) Kunal Chalke (121) and Sumit Gaikar (103) helped boost their total to 414 for nine declared against Oxford Public School. Defending champions Rizvi Springfield's Prithvi Shaw scored 150 against Anjuman Islam Allana English (CST).
