It's not only Indian experts who are tipping India to break the 41-year-old jinx and win in New Zealand. Foreign gurus too. Yesterday, former Australia coach John Buchanan expressed his optimism about India ending up victorious in the three-Test series in Kiwiland.
"This will be a little bit of an indication (of how good India are), how they play in New Zealand. I am expecting them to do well," Buchanan told Cricinfo. "India is on a resurgence, there is no doubt about that. So it will be interesting to track India's performance."
Buchanan is in Christchurch with the England Lions for their series against New Zealand A. "New Zealand are presently a young side, obviously with (Daniel) Vettori as the mainstay. They have a few experienced players, but not the depth. They are very reliant on the group that they have got. They have a new coach and a new support staff. They are in a bit of transitional phase,' Buchanan said. The Queenslander helped Australia to stay as the No 1 in his 1999 to 2007 term.
