A return home proved to be all that the Cleveland Cavaliers needed yesterday to boost their suddenly sagging National Basketball Association fortunes.

The Cavaliers, who currently boast the best record in the league, avoided their first three-game losing streak of the season with a 101-81 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

Most Valuable Player candidate LeBron James scored 38 points while Mo Williams and Delonte West added 22 each as the Cavs bounced back from two embarrassing road defeats.

Orlando humbled the Cavaliers with a 29-point victory on Firday, a day after the Cavs suffered a setback at lowly Washington.

Determined to put those setbacks behind them, Cleveland showed resolve on both ends to improve to 37-1 at home.

If the Cavs can win their final three home games of the regular season, they would equal the 1985-86 Boston Celtics (40-1) for the best home record in NBA history.

Tony Parker scored 24 for the Spurs but got no help from Manu Ginobili or Tim Duncan. Ginobili scored just four points while Duncan had just six and none after the first quarter.
