Football's law makers took the first steps to the introduction of electronic aides for referees last week after they agreed to trial several systems. This stance is opposed to the French legend's, who wants the sport to proceed with the initiative ufffd introduced to the Champions League this season ufffd of placing two extra assistants behind the goals.
The 55-year-old added: "One referee is not enough, not in the modern era where you have 20 cameras. It is unfair: the cameras can see everything but the referee only has one pair of eyes. It is not fair to the referee.
"It is why for the past 10 years I have asked to change the job of the referee, to help improve the situation and to give the referees better support. The system is bad and I have known this for 40 years.
