HDFC defeat FIS to clinch MiD DAY's inaugural football Corporate Championship

HDFC Bank were proud winners of the inaugural MiD Day Corporate Soccer Championship held over the weekend at Andheri East's Holy Family School. HDFC beat FIS 3-1 in the final held yesterday.

The enthralling contest had everyone on the edge of their seats as the considerable swing in momentum gripped one and all. Guest of Honour, actor Arjun Rampal, MiD DAY COO Cyriac Mathew and Managing Director Manajit Ghoshal watched in awe.

FIS came anxiously close to scoring when striker Elroy's vicious kick beat HDFC custodian Sukesh Shastri, but failed to beat the woodwork as the thunderous attempt ricocheted off the crossbar. Post the effort, FIS went in to a shell and allowed their opponents to move the ball freely.

This helped HDFC gain impetus and soon they broke the deadlock after Clifford Kilmo struck home combining well with his partner Glen Morias.

Morias, then doubled the lead as FIS the 'keeper was beaten by a sublime display of passing by HDFC.

FIS kept surging forward and were paid for their efforts when John Paul reduced the deficit in the dying stages to keep the game alive. However, Liston Fonseca sealed the deal for HDFC when he got his name on the score sheet in injury time.
